A downward dead fish means extreme depression. The doctor is looking at the scene of a fish on a tree as it is a scientific topic that’s worth studying. When a doctor sees an absurd scene like this, he finds no solution.
Sometimes, in life. Some situations are similar to explaining why a dead fish will be on a tree. No matter how hard we try, it leaves us with no solution, only the sense of falling, frustration and depression.
The Cycle of Isolation
Most people are isolating at home right now, but what is the extent of isolation?
While my original plan was to photograph an isolated person’s journey of joining a cult that offers him love and a sense of belonging, the coronavirus outbreak has ruined my plan. So, I decided to exaggerate the effect of isolation and explore the extent of its influence. As a filmmaker, I challenged myself to complete a narrative still series. I used five long picture strips with over 20 images to show dominant aspects of the main character's life, which includes childhood, daily routine, relationship, work, and ends with open interpretation. I planted the root of isolation back to his neglected childhood and visually links this message by a book. Dull lifestyle, texting strangers, depressive workplace, OCD and habits of stalking are results of his isolation. As the audience view the pictures chronologically, the degree of isolation and the distortion inside of the character increase. By the end, I’d like people to see how extreme isolation can distort one’s mind and trap him in a cycle of isolation. In my original plan, the person he meets in the end is a cult member, but will there be hope now?
